I am a fan of Ms. O'Brien and have a deep appreciation of anyone who has made the strides that she has. I am particularly pleased that she describes her mother as "Afro-Cuban". I have watched her special, Black in America 2, quite closely. However, my only criticism, if it is truly a crtique and not a mere observation, is that the dearth of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, and questioning persons in the previous presentations. My question is "why?" Black "queers" have been at the forefront of our struggle, as evidenced by Mr. Bayard Rustin, the true architect of the modern Civil Rights Movement. Further, we are deeply enmeshed in the fabric of Black culture as we know it to be, as mothers/fathers/sons/daughters/grandmothers/fathers...et al. I would hope that CNN continue on with the good work and correct this glaring omission. Donna Rose Weems, Chicago, Illinois
