She gets paid a huge amount of money to report on events like Katrina or anchor TV programs such as Black in America. I've said before, you don't see the average, no name, person who gives their time and effort, not expecting anything in return, win awards. CNN, bottom line, makes shows like Black in America, to make lots of money. McDonalds is sponsoring Black in America. They're giving Soledad O'Brien an award for anchoring it among other things. it's all about ratings and making huge amounts of money.

You do understand that television and media is a business, right?
I'm glad that they are doing the story and will do one on Latinos - instead of a hundred other shows they might do on some "worth less" story (a serial killer, a missing kid, a celebrity funeral...)
She probably does get paid more than she deserves (and she seems to often boot it when she speaks off the cuff) but she does some stories that rise above the others.
Yes, Ernie you're right, I know that it is a business. However, CNN makes it sound like they're doing it for YOU. Like they care about you.
