PITTSBURG, Kan. — Good reporting is about good storytelling that seeks to get to the heart of people’s humanity.
That was the message from journalist and documentarian Soledad O’Brien, who spoke Tuesday night at Pittsburg State University on diversity in news and people’s lives. O’Brien is the host and executive producer of the new 13-episode true crime series "Mysteries & Scandals" on the Oxygen network and host of "Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien," a weekly political magazine show syndicated across the country on hundreds of TV stations.
“Diversity, to me, is not just a story, not just a different lens on a story, but looking at someone through a really human lens,” she said. “Good, authentic storytelling — everybody wants to see that and understand that.”
